The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) supports and funds grassroots conservation, protection and restoration projects around the world, protecting wild places and ecosystems from nature loss which is vital for our climate, health & wellbeing and business.
We worked with EOCA in designing and developing a WordPress website that features a secure, member specific, log in area and an online voting system that is used for the project funding vote, enabling members of the public to help choose which conservation projects will receive funding from EOCA.
The members’ area is accessed by a username and password, unique to each of the more than 150 members. From here they can update their membership page, access documents and vote in the biannual, member specific, conservation project funding vote.
The public project funding vote can generate around 60,000 visitors during a two-week period. The system needed to be secure and ensure that multiple votes weren’t cast by a single person. To help limit multiple votes, user accounts were created with a vote per account.
Feedback from the client has been very positive:
“Our list of requirements for a new website were far from straight forward, but we were reassured by the team at Designworks they were all possible. For every request we had, there was a solution, and new ideas were suggested and developed as the site progressed. The team, especially Martin who was our main contact for the build of the site, were really helpful and more than happy to answer our many questions, and make additional tweaks to the site, even once it had launched. We have already had some great comments about the new site so a big thank you to everyone at Designworks for their help and support.”
