We are pleased to share that Designworks has formally begun the process of becoming a certified B Corporation.

For some time, we have been reviewing how we operate as a business. Not just how we deliver for clients, but how we impact our team, our community and the environment. B Corp Certification provides a recognised framework to measure and strengthen that impact.

This marks the start of a structured and accountable journey.

What B Corp means

Certified B Corporations meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Certification is awarded by the non-profit organisation B Lab, following a detailed assessment across five key areas:

  • Governance
  • Workers
  • Community
  • Environment
  • Customers

It is not a badge gained lightly. The process requires evidence, documentation and measurable improvement.

For us, it aligns with how we believe a modern agency should operate.

The B Corp journey

To ensure our approach is thorough and credible, we are working with Andy Hawkins from Business on Purpose.

Andy has guided us through the B Impact Assessment framework, helping us evaluate where we are performing well and where improvements are needed. This has involved reviewing internal policies, supply chains, governance structures and our environmental commitments.

Why B Corp matters to us

B Corp is not about marketing positioning. It is about accountability.

As an agency, we work with organisations that care about long-term growth and responsible practice. Strengthening our own governance, transparency and environmental performance ensures we are aligned with the standards we encourage others to uphold.

It also formalises commitments we have already been working towards, including:

  • Responsible supplier selection
  • Environmental policy development
  • Transparent business practices
  • Long-term team wellbeing

Certification requires legal commitment as well as operational change. It embeds purpose into the structure of the business.

Our timeline

The B Corp process takes time. Assessment, submission and verification are rigorous.

Our aim is to achieve certification by July 2026.

Between now and then, we will continue refining policies, strengthening documentation and embedding measurable improvements across the business.

Final thought

Becoming a B Corp is not an end point. It is a framework for continuous improvement.

We believe strong businesses balance commercial performance with responsibility. This step formalises that belief and holds us accountable to it.

We will share further updates as our journey progresses.

If you would like to understand more about how this commitment influences our work, we are always happy to discuss it.
