We’re delighted to share some fantastic news this week — The Eddington CIC has secured a new high street premises in Kendal to expand its much-loved Cyclery initiative.

The new space, a charming former restaurant on a prominent corner site, will soon be transformed into a vibrant cycle workshop and vegan café. It will bring together bike repairs, sustainability, and great food under one roof. Bikes and vegan cake offer a simple but effective way to engage the community.

This marks an exciting milestone for an organisation dedicated to sharing the joy of cycling as widely as possible. Over the years, we’ve seen The Eddington CIC and its Waste Into Wellbeing project grow into a cornerstone of the local community. It continues to provide a welcoming space for events, a food larder, and opportunities for people to connect over a cuppa or a meal.

Rory played a key role in helping The Eddington reach this stage. Working closely with owner Bruce Withington, he supported early conversations and helped build the relationships needed to move the project forward. This included connecting the initiative with Kendal Town Council, helping to align stakeholders and create the conditions for the new premises to become a reality. This collaborative approach has been central to getting the project off the ground and ensuring long-term viability.

It’s encouraging to see the team’s hard work translating into tangible progress and continued community impact. We’ve valued our partnership with Jo and the wider team, particularly in delivering the Waste Into Wellbeing website, and we look forward to supporting the next phase with a new website for the Cyclery and Eddington Centre.
