We’ll be at a Civic Dinner with HRH, The Prince of Wales on Wednesday 8 September 2010 at The Monastery, Gorton. The Dinner is being held to raise awareness of a new initiative called Start.

Start was launched in February 2010 by HRH, The Prince of Wales which aims to help people across the UK lead more sustainable lives and show what a more energy efficient, cleaner and healthier future could look like.

This unique event will provide inspiring examples and simple ideas to make better use of our natural resources in all aspects of our lives. These examples will be demonstrated through activities on the evening which include:

Food – a local catering college will be sourcing, making and serving the canapés before guests enjoy a three-course meal which has been sourced within 60 miles of the venue.
Fashion – a sustainable fashion show will display work by local colleges/university students who have designed and produced ‘recycled’ outfits.
Exhibition – local grassroots projects will demonstrate how they have started to take action on sourcing, reducing and recycling energy, water and food.
The Start Living Retrofitting Alliance – A coalition of social landlords, businesses, the public sector, community groups and residents has come together to create a retrofitting alliance to support the improvement of buildings and infrastructure to make the places that we live and work fit for the 21st Century.

We’re looking forward to it.
